Sephora Finding the Right LMS

One size does not fit all!

Have you ever had to use any software that never quite fit for what you needed to do? I’ve seen way too many organizations spend hundreds of thousands of dollars trying to conform and contort their processes and workflow into a software system that will never truly fit their needs.

After a global company had two failed attempts at conforming their internal processes to use two different Learning Management System (LMS) platforms, they decided to thoroughly assess what system would be the best fit their needs.

As the LMS subject matter expert (SME) on the project for this large international retailer, I helped guide them through defining their business and technical requirements, by finding LMS platforms that aligned with THEIR business & technical needs. We went through an RFP process comparing and ranking each platform against these requirements, and then moving to the onsite demo of the top six platforms that made the cut. We compared the onsite finalists to the needs of the business, to determine which LMS platforms would be asked to participate in the Proof of Concept phase.

▶ This project started right before Moodle for Workplace was released and they did not want to assess any software that did not have a track record.

▶▶ As with most software systems, they constantly change, releasing new features and fixing new bugs. This assessment was conducted from 2018 to 2020. The comparisons in this presentation, compared features of these LMS platforms during that time, current features may have changed.
