Fortech Solutions has been looking forward to the release of Moodle version 3.6. Everyone in the Moodle community has been talking about. The list of new features is extensive – and awesome! We want to focus on three of the best.

New Dashboard Blocks

Four new dashboard blocks provide a new way to manage your learning content. The timeline block is now separate from the course overview block. With the timeline block you can sort items by due date, or filter the display by date, or courses. The starred courses block is below that. It lists all the courses that you’ve bookmarked or favorited in the course overview block. Finally you can use the recently accessed items block to pick up activities from where you left off.   

Messaging

A new interface brings some great new messaging features for Instructors. One of the most anticipated is group messaging. Instructors can choose to allow students to only message other group members. Instructors can now star messages from their students. Instructors can manage their contacts and contact requests. Privacy settings allow Instructors to change who is and is not allowed to send them messages. They can also change the setting to send messages by pressing enter instead of clicking a button.

Assignment Feedback

Instructors have been wanting new ways to provide feedback on assignments. Particularly by using video, audio, and images. Now they can do that in two ways. They can upload media files from their computer, or record audio or video using the feedback tool.
